Academic Staff Member – Assistant Professor for the Department of Geology and Soil Science

Research field: Soil Science, Soil biology and biochemistry, Soil conservation and Health Environmental Geochemistry

We are a modern university, teaching and researching agriculture, forestry, economic and technical disciplines in regional and international contexts. Since 2018, we have been the holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award for improving employee care, awarded to us as the first Czech university by the European Commission.

At the Department of Geology and Pedology, we focus on applied science in the fields of geology, geomorphology, pedology and geoarchaeology, with overlap into biology, biochemistry, micromorphology, hydrogeology and hydropedology, which we interpret in an environmental context with implications for forestry, landscaping, arboriculture and nature conservation. We are an experienced, friendly and dynamically developing team, which offers space for the development of teaching activities in line with the subjects taught and scientific research activities in the guaranteed fields.

What will you do?

  • conducting lectures, exercises and excursions in the fields of pedology, soil biology and biochemistry, geochemistry, applied pedology and soil conservation
  • cooperation on lectures in Czech and English
  • supervising, consulting and opposing student theses
  • development of educational and scientific research and creative activities in the field
  • active participation in research projects and grants
  • publishing results in professional and scientific journals and in the form of papers at conferences and seminars

What are our requirements?

  • university degree at Ph.D. level in a natural science (e.g. forest ecology)
  • excellent knowledge of Czech and English
  • experience in teaching in Czech and English
  • experience in supervising student theses at least as a consultant
  • ability to produce applied outputs
  • active participation in scientific projects
  • publication activity
  • developing cooperation at international level
