Dendroecological and Dendrochemical research at UJEP, Usti nad Labem
UJEP is looking for a PhD student to work with the themes of Dendroecology and Dendrochemistry. The general aim of the research project is to understand the response of vegetation to contemporary Climate Change and to investigate how vegetation responds to pollution. Applicant Profile:
Must have a good motivation and interest to carry out research in the field Ecology and Climate Change.
The applicant must have a Master degree (MSc or equivalent) in the field of natural sciences, preferably in Ecology/ Earth Sciences / Vegetation Ecology / Landscape Ecology / Ecosystem dynamics.
The applicant must have competent knowledge in R programming language or similar.
Should be ready to travel locally and internationally for sampling.
Should be proficient in English.
Having a driving license would be useful but is NOT a requisite.
Work Environment at UJEP:
The faculty of Environment at UJEP is an upcoming working group. The working group is diverse and has good interdisciplinary environment. We would look for applicants who are motivated and enthusiastic about the research theme. The applicant would be expected to be a good team-player as well as be self-motivated to develop concepts. There is a decent and motivating peer group mentoring structure. This research will be focusing mainly on dendroecology and dendrochemistry with potential opportunities to sample in Czech Republic, India and Canada. The monthly renumeration for the student would be about 25,000 CZK which is about 1,000 EUR (+ incentives up to another 500 EUR).
