Overview

In accordance with the The Competitive Hiring Process Code of Charles University, the Dean of the Faculty of Science of Charles University announces a competitive hiring process with a deadline for applications November 14, 2024

The position will be in one of the following fields: cartography or geoinformatics or remote sensing, depending on the qualifications and focus of the candidate. The position includes both teaching and project/publication activities. The gross starting salary is 65,000 CZK (for full-time employment). The workload and the duration of the employment may be increased upon agreement, based on the candidate’s involvement in additional projects, which they obtain as a principal investigator or co-investigator within the department.

The interview may be conducted by means of information and communication technology if justified, at the request of the candidate. The Committee may invite selected candidates to give a lecture to the academic community of the Faculty.

Qualifications

  • o at least completed Ph.D. or CSc. degree in the field of geoinformatics/cartography/geography o excellent Czech and English (spoken and written) o ability to pursue internationally recognized research o ability to prepare and deliver quality lectures and seminars in the field o knowledge of programming/scripting (Python, possibly other languages) o ability to work both individually and in research team o ability and interest to undertake organizational as well as popularisation activities
