Academic Staff Member – Assistant/Assistant Professor for the Department of Forest Protection and Wildlife Management
Research field: entomology, arachnology, forest pathology and forest ecology, biological plant control, arachnid biodiversity, phytosanitary
We are a modern university, teaching and researching agriculture, forestry, economic and technical disciplines in regional and international contexts. Since 2018, we have been the holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award for improving employee care, awarded to us as the first Czech university by the European Commission.
Teaching, research and other professional activities are conducted in the following areas: forest entomology, forest phytopathology, mycology, stress ecology, forest protection, zoology and wildlife management. At present, research focuses primarily on damage to forests due to biotic and abiotic factors. Within ecosystem research, the relationship between forest ecosystems and wildlife and the impact of synusia of cambio-xylophagus insects (bark beetles) on the stability of forest stands is also covered.
What will be your job role?
- teaching in subjects including entomology, biological conservation and forest protection
- teaching for the fields of forestry, arboriculture, partly also for horticulture and plant medicine
- independent scientific work on the biology and ecology of spiders and the biodiversity of insects and arachnids
- preparation and management of scientific projects
- publishing research and development results at conferences and in scientific journals
What are our requirements?
- Master’s degree in a biological field – forestry, biology, arboriculture, plant medicine
- research experience of at least 2 years, or a doctoral degree
- active knowledge of Czech and English language
- knowledge in the field of arachnology
- experience in data processing and statistical methods
- knowledge of science technology
- publication activity
Required research experience:
- research design
- ability to identify arachnids
- experience in statistical data processing
- experience in processing and preparing scientific publications

Job status: 0,2 (8 hours per week)
Expected start: March/April 2025
Employment contract: fixed term for 3 years
