The Department of Geological Sciences at the Faculty of Science MU is a modern institution that conducts basic and applied research in a wide range of geoscience disciplines. It provides study programs covering all levels, from bachelor’s to doctoral degrees.

Job Description

Key Duties:

  • Active participation in the preparation and implementation of the education of students of bachelor, master and doctoral degree programmes of ÚGV, supervision of student theses
  • Teaching courses in Czech in the field of geological mapping, GIS and leading of field courses of geological mapping.
  • Scientific and research activities in the field of geology, petrology and structure of Earth’s crust
  • To search for and submit scientific and research projects, involvement in existing projects

Skills and Qualifications

The applicant must have:

  • PhD (or equivalent) in geology
  • Excellent knowledge of the Czech language (mandatory requirement)
  • Very good knowledge of the English language (written and verbal)
  • Significant research and publication activity
  • Long-term experience on professional position in geological research and geological mapping
  • Active approach to submitting national and international projects
  • Active international collaboration
  • Ability to work as a team member, organisational skills, empathic and helpful approach when working and dealing with people
  • The applicant should have:
  • Long-term teaching experience in the field of petrology
