Academic Staff Member – Assistant Professor for the Department of Molecular Biology and Radiobiology

Research field: plant molecular biology

We are a modern university, teaching and researching agriculture, forestry, economic and technical disciplines in regional and international contexts. Since 2018, we have been the holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award for improving employee care, awarded to us as the first Czech university by the European Commission.

The Department of Molecular Biology and Radiobiology focuses mainly on the study of the molecular nature of the interaction between the plant and the environment. We investigate interactions with both abiotic and biotic factors and use a wide range of „omics“ approaches. We have long achieved national and international excellence in these areas, which can be documented both in terms of projects undertaken and, above all, in terms of scientific publications.

What will be your job role?

  • teaching and developing courses in molecular biology, with a focus on nucleic acid molecular biology and plant molecular biology and biotechnology
  • supervising undergraduate and graduate theses
  • developing of both teaching and research activities in the field of plant molecular biology
  • active participation in research projects and grants
  • publishing in scientific journals

What are our requirements?

  • a university degree at Ph.D. level in the field of plant molecular biology
  • excellent knowledge of both, Czech and English language
  • experience in teaching students
  • experience in supervising final theses at least as a consultant
  • publication activity in a relevant scientific field evidenced by 5 publications in Q1 journals in the field, plus one as corresponding author, h-index of at least 5
  • knowledge of RNA technology, plant signalling pathways

Job status: 0,25 (10 hours per week)

Expected start: March 2025

Employment contract: fixed term till 28.02.2026
