Academic Staff Member – Assistant Professor for the Department of Planting Design and Maintenance

Research field:plant use in landscape architecture

We are a modern university, teaching and researching agriculture, forestry, economic and technical disciplines in regional and international contexts. Since 2018, we have been the holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award for improving employee care, awarded to us as the first Czech university by the European Commission.

Department of Planting Design and Maintenance in its pedagogical, research, artistic and creative activities is focused on the issues of establishment, maintenance, management, evaluation and protection of greenery objects in settlements and in the countryside. Applied research in the field of restoration of monuments of garden and landscape architecture and introduction of new field technologies is also important.

What will be your job role?

• guarantee of the courses Floriculture I, Floriculture II
• leading of the selected lectures in the courses Floriculture I, Floriculture II
• leading of the selected lectures and seminars in the courses of Plant Use I-IV focused on the use of herbs in landscape architecture objects
• supervision of bachelor and diploma theses
• involvement in the preparation of on-line materials for teaching students in the courses mentioned above
• active search, preparation and solving of grant projects
• publication of results in scientific journals and presentations at national and international conferences

What are our requirements?

• a univeristy degree at Ph.D. level in landscape architecture
• active knowledge of Czech and English
• knowledge of the range of flowers and their possible use in landscape architecture
• ability to work independently, constructively and responsibly
• positive attitude towards young people, ability to enthuse them for professional tasks
• excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• ability to work as part of a team
• positive and proactive approach to problem solving
• good PC skills (MS Office, Internet)
• clean criminal record

Required research experience:

• experience in designing herbaceous vegetation elements
• experience with technologies for establishing and maintaining herbaceous vegetation elements
• experience in presenting of research or design results

What else do we appreciate?

• professional experience in the field of flower usage in landscaping objects is an advantage
• knowledge of another foreign language

Job status: 0,5 ( 20 hours per week)

Expected start: May 2025

Employment contract: fixed term for 3 years with the possibility of extension
