Academic position at the Department of Wood Science and Technology, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology

We are a modern university, teaching and researching agriculture, forestry, economic and technical disciplines in regional and international contexts. Since 2018, we have been the holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award for improving employee care, awarded to us as the first Czech university by the European Commission.

The Department has a long-standing academic and research interest in the study of wood properties, wood-based materials, wood processing technologies and the design of wood buildings. The development of new materials, processes and technologies is based on the results of the latest science, but is not afraid to learn from history. Its activities cover all areas related to the processing and use of wood, from traditional crafts to Industry 4.0.

Research field: building acoustics and insulation, building physics

What will be your job role?

  • conducting seminars and selected lectures for the courses Building Acoustics and Insulation, Design of Timber Buildings, Energy Performance of Buildings
  • supervising students‘ final theses
  • preparing and assisting with the assessment of student deliverables (credits, exams)
  • participation in scientific research projects, both in terms of submission and solution
  • publishing research and development results in IF journals
  • active participation in conferences

What are our requirements?

  • university degree at Ph.D. level in Civil Engineering or related field
  • active knowledge of the Czech language
  • interest in teaching and research work at the university
  • proven publication record or 5 years in the field of civil engineering with specialisation in building lighting or
  • energy performance of buildings
  • willingness to undertake further training

Job status: 0,2 (8 hours per week)

Expected start: October 2024

Employment contract: fixed term for one year with the possibility of extension
