Academic Staff Member – Associate Professor for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry

Research field: microbiology – antibiotic resistence

We are a modern university, teaching and researching agriculture, forestry, economic and technical disciplines in regional and international contexts. Since 2018, we have been the holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award for improving employee care, awarded to us as the first Czech university by the European Commission.

The Microbiology Research Group is one of six research groups at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. This research group focuses on basic and applied research in veterinary and clinical microbiology. We are looking for a new colleague for the position of Associate Professor who will be part of the team and contribute to our scientific and teaching activities.

What will be your job role?

  • teaching and conducting classes and lectures in bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programmes in Czech and English, possible guarantee of study subjects
  • supervision of student theses in the field of microbiology
  • independent research in the field of microbiology, including the creative solution of scientific tasks
  • leading research teams and coordinating research activities
  • active involvement in the preparation and management of scientific projects
  • publication of results in professional and scientific journals and participation in conferences

What are our requirements?

  • university education at the level of Ph.D. in the relevant field, academic rank of associate professor
  • excellent knowledge of Czech and English
  • ability to professionally supervise students‘ final theses in the field
  • at least 5 years of teaching experience at a university
  • experience in leading a research team in the field of microbiology
  • experience in preparing and solving scientific project

Required research experience:

  • demonstrable research experience in microbiology, preferably in the field of antibiotic resistance for 5 years
  • at least 20 publications in a peer-reviewed journal or conference
  • demonstrable experience in R&D projects – at least 2 projects obtained as researcher/co-researcher

Job status: 0,5 (20 hours per week)

Expected start: January 2025

Employment contract: fixed term till 31.12.2026
