Academic Staff Member – Associate Professor with a Focus on Furniture Strength Dimensioning and Testing

We are a modern university, teaching and researching agriculture, forestry, economic and technical disciplines in regional and international contexts. Since 2018, we have been the holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award for improving employee care, awarded to us as the first Czech university by the European Commission.

The Department’s mission is to provide higher education that focuses on training a new generation of experts in the field of furniture design, production and research. Department tries not only to pass on knowledge and skills, but also to support the individual creativity and critical thinking of each student. The goal is to enable students to develop their unique approach and ideas without being limited by traditional dogmas and old clichés. At the same time, the Department strives to connect theoretical knowledge with practical experience so that students are able to respond to current challenges in the field and contribute to innovations in the furniture industry.

What will be your job role?

  • teaching and conducting lectures and seminars in bachelor, master and doctoral programmes, possibly guaranteeing courses of study
  • supervision of student theses
  • independent research in the field of furniture strength dimensioning and testing, including creative solutions to scientific tasks
  • leading research teams and coordinating research activities
  • active involvement in the preparation and management of scientific projects
  • publication of results in WoS and scientific journals and participation in conferences

What are our requirements?

  • university education at the level of Ph.D. in civil engineering, academic rank of associate professor
  • excellent knowledge of Czech and English
  • ability to professionally supervise student theses in the field
  • at least 5 years of teaching experience at a university
  • experience in leading a research team
  • experience in preparing and solving scientific projects

Job status: 0,3 (12 hours per week)

Expected start: 15.01.2025

Employment contract: fixed term for one year with the possibility of extension
