The dean of the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, invites applications for job vacancy with a deadline for applications March 31, 2025

Job Description • Teaching in bachelor’s or master’s study programs, primarily basic practical language courses or similar support courses; regularly updates at least part of their teaching and incorporates the latest best practices in language didactics; may also participate in language proofreading of seminar papers in specialized subjects. • Teaching load of 12–20 hours per week. • Participation in examination committees for state bachelor’s exams, as well as in admission committees or the language component of master’s state exams. • Reviewing bachelor’s theses.

If the career development plan is required, it must aim to commence the habilitation procedure (procedure for the granting of associate professorship) no later than nine years after the expected beginning of employment.

Based on the committee’s decision, either all applicants or selected applicants only will be invited to the second round of the competition, i.e. an interview.

Qualifications

  • Completed university education in philology or pedagogy with a focus on teaching the French language (ideally a graduate of French Philology, Didactics of the French Language, or a related field) at the master’s level. Experience in teaching French at the university level. Excellent command of French at C2 level – native speaker. Knowledge of Czech is an advantage.
