HEAD OF RESEARCH DEPARTMENT OF MACHINE DESIGN

Department of Machine Design[i]   The Institute for Nanomaterials, Advanced Technologies and Innovations of the Technical University of Liberec is engaged in the development, research and application of new structural units using advanced technologies for industrial applications. Within the framework of research and development, the department cooperates with dozens of companies in the Czech Republic.

  • Number of available positions: 1
  • A commitment: 100 % (40 hours/week), min. 50 %
  • Wage classification: pay grade B7-C2 according to the Internal Wage Regulation + performance-related increment
    • to the agreed salary may be based on a positive evaluation
    • Your performance is awarded a performance bonus and rewards
  • Employment contract: fixed-term until 31 December 2027, renewable indefinitely, probationary period 6 months
  • Entry: 1 April 2025, or by agreement

What will be your job description

  • development and further direction of the department in the field of modern constructions and technologies – you will build your own scientific team
  • management activities in the Department of Machine Design in the area of personnel and financial management, in line with the development of the department in the areas of management of scientific research and publication activities, in relation to the CXI development strategy
  • use and development of https://cxi.tul.cz/en/device/oks
  • Searching for suitable partners and grant schemes for cooperation (joint scientific research projects and contract research contracts) and participating in projects and contracts in close cooperation with commercial and academic partners
  • cooperation with CXI departments and TUL faculties

We require:

  • university degree with a focus on mechanical engineering
  • completed doctoral studies (Ph.D., CSc. or equivalent) in a technical field an advantage
  • experience in research or development in industry or academia
  • experience in machine construction technology or a related field for at least 3 years
  • experience in the preparation and management of scientific research projects
  • experience in managing a project or other team an advantage
  • knowledge of English language at least at B2 level, knowledge of Czech language at least at A2 level

Information on the selection of a suitable candidate:

The selection procedure will be conducted in the first round by examining the documents and qualifications received.  The second round will take place with the selected candidates in the form of a personal or online interview, part of the interview will be conducted in English and part in Czech. The selection board is expected to meet in the 11th week of 2025. All applicants will be informed of the outcome within 30 days of the end of the selection procedure.

Within 30 calendar days of the publication of the results of the selection procedure, the candidate is entitled to request the advertiser to comment on his/her performance in the selection procedure by e-mail: volnamista@tul.cz. Within 30 calendar days of receipt of the request, the awarding authority will send a written statement on the applicant’s results.
