Academic Staff Member – Head of the Department of Morphology, Physiology and Animal Genetics

Research field: morphology, physiology and genetics of animals

We are a modern university, teaching and researching agriculture, forestry, economic and technical disciplines in regional and international contexts. Since 2018, we have been the holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award for improving employee care, awarded to us as the first Czech university by the European Commission.

The Department focuses on teaching and research in the field of morphology, physiology, veterinary prevention and animal genetics. In the field of morphology and physiology, the Department focuses on anatomy, histology, animal physiology and zoohygiene. Research focuses on the defence mechanisms of the mammary gland of cattle, the microclimate of stables and the ethology of dogs. The Department of Genetics focuses on research on genetic polymorphisms, gene expression and livestock diversity. The Department collaborates with other academic and research institutions at national and international level and is involved in a number of research projects.

What will be your job role?

  • managing the workplace in terms of personnel and finance
  • coordination of teaching, scientific and research activities carried out at the Department
  • performance of pedagogical and scientific research activities in the field of morphology, physiology and genetics of animals

What are our requirements?

  • a university degree with a focus on morphology, physiology and genetics of animals
  • attainment of a Ph.D. degree, associate professor or professor preferably
  • active knowledge of the Czech language at C1 level
  • active knowledge of English at B2 level
  • organisational, managing and communication skills
  • prerequisities for teamwork and individual work
  • the ability to navigate labor law regulations and the economic rules of HEI management
  • personal and professional prerequisites for teaching work
  • scientific research and publication activity in the field of morphology, physiology and animal genetics or a related field, experience in publishing in journals with IF
  • willingness to work on your further personal development and qualification growth
  • civic integrity

Required research experience:

  • documentable scientific research activities in the field of morphology, physiology and animal genetics

Job status: 1,0 (40 hours per week)

Expected start: January 2025

Employment contract: fixed term till 31.03.2027
