JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a colleague to join our team at the Laboratory of Microscopy and Histology of the Biological Center of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, v. v. i. as a Scientific Assistant, who would specialize in the analysis of image data from light microscopes.

YOUR JOB WILL BE:

  • train new users on the ENTÚ microscopy equipment;
  • assist users in the use of microscopes and image data analysis software;
  • to carry out regular routine servicing and maintenance of microscopes and to arrange for repairs of microscopy equipment;
  • independently carry out research and development tasks within the framework of a project assigned by the line manager;
  • publish regularly in impacted journals;
  • follow new trends in image data analysis (FIJI, IMARIS, cellSence), etc.;
  • maintenance and updating of the Microscopy and Histology Laboratory website;
  • active participation in teaching at the Faculty of Science, which is provided by members of the laboratory;
  • participate in internships and courses supporting the improvement of their professional level;
  • participate in obtaining research funding from grant agencies.

REQUIREMENTS:
Min. education level: PhD
Field of education: Biological, Technical

WE REQUIRE YOU TO HAVE:

  • university degree in biology or engineering;
  • experience with fluorescence microscopy, especially classical and confocal microscopy;
  • experience with biological image analysis software;
  • experience with web development welcome;
  • flexibility and willingness to learn new workflows;
  • ability to work in a team;
  • ability to perform tasks independently as assigned by supervisor;
  • knowledge of English at a good spoken and written level;
  • communication and organisational skills.
