Academic Staff Member – Assistant Professor for the Department of Wood Science and Technology

Research field: woodworking, CNC machines

We are a modern university, teaching and researching agriculture, forestry, economic and technical disciplines in regional and international contexts. Since 2018, we have been the holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award for improving employee care, awarded to us as the first Czech university by the European Commission.

In its academic and scientific activities, the Department has long been researching wood properties, wood-based materials, wood processing technologies and the construction of wooden buildings. The development of new materials, processes and technologies is based on the results of the latest science, but is not afraid to learn from history. Its activities cover all areas related to the processing and use of wood, from traditional crafts to Industry 4.0.

What will be your job role?

  • conducting seminars and workshops on Woodworking Basics I, Woodworking Basics II, CNC machines
  • supervising students‘ final theses
  • preparing and assisting with the assessment of student outputs (credits, exams)
  • mentoring and guiding students
  • active cooperation in solving scientific research projects
  • data analysing
  • preparation of scientific publications
  • active participation in conferences

What are our requirements?

  • Bachelor’s degree in woodworking/furniture or related field
  • active knowledge of the Czech language
  • ability to work with woodworking machines
  • experience in programming CNC machines
  • knowledge of working in Imos iX CAD program
  • at least 10 years of experience in the industry
  • willingness to further education

Job status: 1,0 (40 hours per week)

Expected start: November 2024

Employment contract: fixed term for one year
