Přehled
Ph.D. opportunity is available within the research group led by Dr. Martin Rejhon for talented and motivated researchers with a solid understanding of 2D materials. Dr. Rejhon, a promising young researcher with a strong publication record and experience gained at New York University, USA, has been awarded the Junior Star 2024 grant (1 million EUR over 5 years) by the Czech Science Foundation (GACR), recognizing his potential as an outstanding early-career scientist. The group’s research endeavors focus on advancing tunable electronic and optoelectronic devices using epitaxial graphene with tailored stacking orders.
Open Ph.D. position is expected to start in March 2025
- Selective growth of epitaxial graphene – toward carbon electronics
Requirements:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in physics or a related field obtained within the last 2 years. Candidates with anticipated Master’s defense before March 2025 are also welcome to apply.
- Good proficiency in English.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Experience with Raman spectroscopy, AFM, and nanolithography is a plus, but it is not required.
- Experience with scientific computing and programming (Python, Matlab, …) is also a plus
- Motivation to learn new things.
We offer:
- A Ph.D. position in a four-year program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University.
- Faculty scholarship of approx. 15 thousand CZK (tax-exempt).
- Employment at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at 0.5 FTE with a monthly pay of 18 thousand CZK (tax-deductible), which includes comprehensive health insurance for the duration of employment (the stipend and the salary allow for a comfortable student lifestyle in the Czech Republic).
