Come to CEITEC MU in Brno and join us! We are  plant molecular biologists at CEITEC looking for

PhD Candidate on CRISPR-based genome editing in plants

About this position:

The CRISPR/Cas system is one of the most promising methods for genome editing in various organisms. In our laboratory, we developed a method for CRISPR-based genome editing in oilseed rape (Brassica napus) and Arabidopsis thaliana using hairy root cultures to study specific genes and their regulatory sequences. The PhD candidate will use Molecular biology approaches to assess the functionality and efficiency of various CRISPR editing constructs, transformation methods (stable versus transient), and regeneration protocols to develop transgene-free, genome-edited plant lines in various Brassicaceae species.

Project description:

Applications are invited for a 3–4-year research position in the research group of Helene Robert Boisivon, Ph.D., to join the TowArds Next GENeration Crops (TANGENC) project, reg. number CZ.02.01.01/00/22_008/0004581, in Programme Johannes Amos Comenius (Czech Republic – The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, co-funded by the European Union) and will be held under the supervision of Dr. Veronika Jedličková, PhD.

Project research aims at developing protocols for efficient and reproducible generation of transgenic and/or genome-edited plants. The research group will be involved in project activities 5.5 Selection of suitable genome engineering tools for crop plants, 5.6 Development of transgene delivery techniques for selected crops/cultivars, and 5.7 Recovery of plant material and regeneration of transgenic/mutant plants.
