Přehled
Students are trained in all areas of biochemistry, including bioenergetics, enzymology, molecular biology, protein chemistry and structure, immunochemistry, xenobiochemistry, and metabolic processes. Training involves participation in scientific projects, mainly at the Department of Biochemistry at Charles University and in collaboration with research institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences and other laboratories. The study concludes with an English language certificate, a state doctoral exam in biochemistry, and a successful dissertation defense with a publication in an international journal. The program is conducted without specialization.
Application for the programme starting in the winter semester by:

Profile of the graduate
The graduates of the Ph.D. program in Biochemistry have broad theoretical and practical knowledge of biochemistry and molecular biology. They are prepared for individual scientific project or cooperation in research group. They are able to design and perform complex biochemical experiments and to adapt and apply them relevantly to any chemical and biological topics. The students are able to present their results, critically evaluate them and to discuss them in respect to international scientific context and quality. The in-depth knowledge not only makes them expert in biochemistry and molecular biology with the well-founded scientific orientation in majority of relative topics. The comprehensive understanding enables students to apply and transfer obtained skills during education at University, and also they are able to extract, simplify and share achieved results to broad scientific as well as laic audiences. In addition to biochemical expertise students also are able to develop their scientific, pedagogical and language skills, presentation and rhetorician proficiency, team work and scientific co-operation during the studies. Therefore, the absolvents are able to serve as principal investigators and leader of research groups at scientific institutions as well as specialists at clinical chemistry laboratories, to be employed educational and governmental institutions as well as to participate in specialized applied research, biotechnological, food and pharmaceutical industry or business trade.
