Overview

A postdoctoral research opportunity is available at the Laboratory of Biophysics and Chemical Physics, Department of Radiation and Chemical Physics (PALS Centre), Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Highly motivated researchers are welcome to join the lab and work on various funded research projects!

The fellow is required to have technical and theoretical knowledge related to radiation chemistry. Hands-on experience with common techniques in biophysics, radiation chemistry or microscopy is preferred.

The candidate is expected to lead research projects under the supervision of the PI and publish research findings in reputational peer-reviewed journals. Specific tasks will include design and perform experiments, collection and analysis of data, preparation of reports for peer-reviewed scientific publications, conference presentations, and grant progress reports. The fellow will have opportunities to mentor technicians and graduate students.

Required profile

  • PhD degree received (or PhD thesis submitted) in the area of experimental radiation chemistry
  • Practical experience in the study of early (primary) radiation chemical events
  • Insight into behaviour of radiation chemical systems on various timescales, from femtoseconds to irreversible changes
  • Deep knowledge of radiation chemical basis of radiobiology, especially shedding light on the role of water
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills in English

Terms of employment

The initial period of employment is 1 year (with the possibility of an extension), starting in 2025 or as otherwise agreed.
