Overview
We are seeking a skilled researcher to join our Rare Earth and Uranium Science Research Group. The successful candidate will work on innovative projects specializing in the synthesis of high-quality single crystals for fundamental and applied research in quantum materials and strongly correlated systems. The preparation of clean, defect-free crystals is critical for understanding the intrinsic properties of advanced materials, yet achieving this requires careful control and optimization of growth methods.
In this position, you will primarily employ techniques such as flux growth and Czochralski pulling to synthesize single crystals. Your work will involve the preparation of novel and known materials, allowing for the investigation of their magnetic, electronic, and structural properties. Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, you will contribute to advancing our knowledge of these systems and unlocking their potential for technological applications.
What will you do
Synthesize single crystals using flux growth, Czochralski pulling, and other advanced methods.
Characterize the quality and structure of crystals through X-ray diffraction (single-crystal and powder), Laue backscattering, and other techniques.
Explore the intrinsic physical properties of synthesized materials, including their magnetic and electronic behavior.
Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, both within the institution and with external collaborators.
Prepare and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
What do we expect
Ph.D. in Solid State Physics/Chemistry or a related field.
Experience with single-crystals growth and applying XRD methods for the analysis.
Familiarity with other characterization techniques (e.g. scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), spectroscopy methods) is highly desirable.
Knowledge of magnetic properties and electrical resistivity measurements is beneficial.
Proficiency in experimental design and data interpretation, attention to detail.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
