Overview

The research of the group Materials with Controlled Microstructure is focused on the design, preparation, characterization and theory of a wide spectrum of structural metallic materials – from single crystals via oriented bi- and tri-crystals up to materials with micro- and/or nanocrystalline structure.

An important part of our research represents theoretical modeling of the dislocation behavior and/or grain boundary segregation.

What is it about

  • We have purchased a new Thermo-Calc software; if you have not yet encountered this software, we expect a willingness to learn it perfectly and be interested in working with it.
  • We focus on metallic materials; we model high entropy alloys and shape memory alloys.
  • You will design the composition of high-entropy alloys based on calculations, simulate their properties and the behavior of individual materials.
  • You will collaborate and participate in the design of experiments to confirm theories.
  • You will simulate the processing and mechanical properties of metallic materials.

What we expect

  • PhD in Physics/Modelling/Mathematics
  • Communicative English
  • Knowledge of simulation, modelling
  • Independence and responsible personality; software is new here and only externists may help with issues
  • Knowledge of more types of modelling (i.e. CALPHAD, DFT, Molecular Dynamics, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning is advantage
  • Knowledge of experimental techniques is advantage
  • Ability to write publications, presentation at conferences

What we can offer

  • Possibility of material analyses by the most advanced methods
  • Unique instrumentation (melting furnaces, powder metallurgy, annealing, 3D printer, etc.)
  • Opportunity to participate in the high-tech research and collaborate with experts in the field
  • Opportunity to attend valuable international conferences across the word
  • Opportunity to develop and realize your ideas
  • Friendly team

Our benefits

  • Interesting work in cutting-edge research and development
  • 5 weeks of vacation + 6 days of personal leave
  • Home office mode partially available
  • After the first year of employment, contribution to pension and life insurance, contribution to recreation, culture or sports
  • Czech/ English lessons at the workplace
  • In-house yoga classes
  • Multisport card and other benefits
