Academic Staff Member – Postdoktorand for the Department of Morphology, Physiology and Animal Genetics

Research field: physiology of animals

The Department provides teaching in the areas of animal morphology and physiology, cell biology, immunology, zoo hygiene and animal disease prevention and genetics. For teaching, it has, for example, a histology classroom, an autopsy room, a collection of permanent anatomical specimens, an ossuary, and several laboratories. More focused research activities on the immune system of the mammary gland in cattle, the study of osteoblasts, wound healing, the internal environment of farm animals, gene expression in farm animal production performance, and also the study of microsatellites and genetic diversity of animals and diseases of cattle limbs are undertaken.

What will be your job role?

  • teaching subjects thematically focused on animal physiology and subjects with molecular biological content
  • management of bachelor’s and diploma theses
  • preparation of research project proposals, research project solutions
  • experimental work
  • publishing activities

What are our requirements?

  • excellent knowledge of the Czech language, ability to communicate in general and professional matters
  • active knowledge of the English language, ability to work with English text, prepare manuscripts of original scientific papers, conduct theoretical and practical teaching
  • ability to lecture on professional topics related to the subjects taught, to conduct practical exercises
  • routine knowledge of laboratory work, practical knowledge and experience in methods of isolation and cultivation of cell populations, immunocytochemistry analyses, biochemical analyses of body fluids and haematological analyses, nucleic acid isolation analyses, PCR and RT-PCR and sequencing
  • ability to publish in scientific journals – at least 4 first-author publications in the WOS Core Collection

Required research experience:

  • experience with the organization of experiments, setting up the design of experiments
  • experience with the preparation of scientific publications

Job status: 1,0 (40 hours per week)

Employment contract: fixed term till 31.07.2027
