Non-academic Staff Member – Project Researcher II for the Department of Forest Ecology

Research field: research in forest ecosystems

We are a modern university, teaching and researching agriculture, forestry, economic and technical disciplines in regional and international contexts. Since 2018, we have been the holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award for improving employee care, awarded to us as the first Czech university by the European Commission.

The Department of Forest Ecology addresses a wide range of ecological topics, including primary and secondary production, ecological stability, and biodiversity in the landscape. We focus on the relationships between organisms and their environment, climate, substances, and human activities. Our institute is primarily research-oriented, as evidenced by our prestigious results, but we are also enthusiastic about teaching and learning. We collaborate on projects with numerous domestic and international partners, with a strong emphasis on practical application.

What will you do?

  • independently solve research and development tasks in the field of forest ecosystems
  • perform field measurements of selected tree parameters in hard-to-reach forest stands, including mathematical and statistical data processing
  • participate in the scientific project Interreg CZ, SK
  • communicate with target groups (forest owners, professional forest managers, etc.)
  • publish the results obtained in professional and scientific journals
  • participate in conferences and seminars

What are our requirements?

  • a university degree (at least a bachelor’s degree) in natural sciences
  • excellent knowledge of Czech/Slovak language
  • active knowledge of English (spoken and written)
  • extensive experience in communication and administrative processes within work teams
  • experience in non-violent communication techniques
  • excellent knowledge of working with MS Excel, experience in creating, controlling and managing databases
  • experience in editing websites (project website management)
  • experience with graphic programs (e.g. Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw, Procreate, etc.)
  • driving licence group B – active driver
  • experience in project coordination and management
  • foreign work experience of at least 2 months

Required research experience:

  • experiences with solving projects (at least as a member of project team)
  • datamanagement and data evaluation

Job status: 0,3 (12 hours per week)

Expected start: March 2025

Employment contract: fixed term 2 years (duration of the project)

Place of work: Brno (+terrain – mainly border areas of the Czech Republic and Slovakia)
