Overview

We are seeking a motivated and skilled researcher to contribute to ongoing and future projects in the field of diamond-based electronic (preffered) and quantum applications. The successful candidate will work within the MNB group, supporting the development of novel diamond materials and their integration into functional devices.

Because the candidate purpose is to support the research activities for electronic and potentially quantum applications, the candidate shall have a good understanding of material sciences, thin film deposition using physical or chemical vapor deposition techniques, thin film characterizations relevant to semiconductors materials and optionally in characterization of optical centers in diamond. Knowledge and practice of basic microfabrication proceesing is also important.

What will you do

  • Participate in the synthesis of doped diamond layers using MWPECVD techniques.
  • Perform material characterization, particularly of thin films relevant to electronic and semiconductor applications.
  • Support the development of processes for electronic and quantum device fabrication.
  • Contribute to the study of optical and electronic properties of diamond, including the investigation of optical centers.
  • Collaborate with other researchers within FZU and external partner institutions.
Document research findings and contribute to publications and project reports.

What do we expect

  • PhD (or equivalent experience) in Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with thin film deposition techniques (CVD or PVD).
  • Proficiency in material characterization methods relevant to semiconductors (e.g., Raman spectroscopy, AFM, SEM, electrical measurements).
  • Basic knowledge and hands-on experience with microfabrication processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with diamond materials (and/or quantum) technologies.
  • Experience in characterizing optical centers (such as NV centers) in diamond.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both – independently and as part of a team in a research environment.
