Visiting Position of Researcher

Call for Applications
Applications are invited for the visiting position of Researcher at School of Business Administration, Silesian University in Opava, Czech Republic.

The position is intended to foster the quality of research in the area of economics, business and finance carried out at the Silesian University in Opava, to enhance the international dimension of its activities by hosting an outstanding research expert. The position will contribute to development of the region in applications of advanced digitalization of business processes, environmental economics connected with the minimising the costs associated with changes in the eco-system and data processing in advanced scientific research. It will be financed by the call Vouchers for Universities – Moravian-Silesian Region from the Operational Programme Just Transition. The parameters of the selection procedure are in line with this call.

The researcher is expected to be in residence in Karviná for the duration of the position and to contribute to the research activities carried out at the university. There will be no teaching duties associated with the position, however the researcher is expected to take active role in various seminars or conferences organized and to interact with the faculty members and graduate students in his/her area. English is foreseen as the main language of communication. The researcher will have a mentor prof. Ing. Daniel Stavárek, Ph.D. from the School of Business Administration in Karviná, Department of Finance and Accounting.

 

Conditions
Salary: the researcher will receive a monthly remuneration of 66 000 CZK brutto.  The salary is supposed to cover all living expenses.

Employment contract: will be concluded for a fixed term. The duration of the position is 24 months. The starting date is subject to mutual agreement, preferably in January 2025.

Working hours: full-time job.

Requirements
On the starting date of the position the applicant must meet the following requirements:

•       hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in economics, business administration, finance and banking or a related field while fulfilling on of the following conditions:

o   incoming holders of a Ph.D. degree obtained abroad, of a nationality other than Czech, who are not residents of the Czech Republic or who have not spent more than 12 months in the Czech Republic in the last 36 months;

o   Ph.D. degree holders of Czech nationality who have long-term experience abroad. Long-term foreign experience can be considered to be at least 12 consecutive months out of the last 36 months, either in the form of doctoral studies abroad or employment at a foreign scientific institution, or a combination.

 

•       have authored at least 3 publications in journals listed in Web of Scinece database with an impact factor in the field of economics, business economics or management;

•       proved experience in applied econometrics and data processing.

 

 

Applications should include
•       a cover letter describing how the applicant can fulfil the objectives of the position;

•       professional CV of the applicant, including a list of publications and citations of the applicant’s work, grants/projects awarded, conferences with active participation, and description of the applicant’s employment during the last 3 years;

•       copy of Ph.D. diploma (or its nostrification);

•       unless this is already evident from other documents supplied, any additional items needed to prove that the applicant meets the Requirements stipulated above;

•       recommendation letter from a foreign institution.

Warning
The personal data of the job applicant will be processed in accordance with the relevant generally binding legal regulations, in particular the Labour Code, the Employment Act, the Act on the Processing of Personal Data, etc. The personal data thus obtained will not be disclosed or communicated to any third parties and will be used only for the purposes of the selection procedure and the eventual conclusion of an employment contract.

In the event that the candidate is not offered employment, the materials sent to the selection procedure will be returned to him/her; if the materials so sent are returned to the University by the postal service as unclaimed/undeliverable mail, they will be shredded immediately thereafter. Materials received by e-mail or data mail or other similar means will be deleted and will not be backed up or otherwise archived.
